Premium Weather Update August 5, 2026

High pressure is sliding offshore today, opening the door to a prolonged stretch of warm, humid weather across southwestern Connecticut and southeastern New York. While a few isolated showers and thunderstorms may develop each afternoon through the weekend, most locations will remain dry most of the time. Any storms that do develop, however, will be capable of producing brief heavy downpours. The more noticeable story will be the humidity, with muggy days, steamy nights, and heat index values approaching 100 degrees at times. A cold front early next week will bring a significant drop in humidity, returning much more comfortable conditions while temperatures remain seasonably warm.
